On Styling: Winter Sessions
First of all – if you were fortunate enough to have a session fall on the day after a snowstorm: congrats! These types of scenarios can’t be planned for obvious reasons, but occasionally the stars align and you’re given a gift. The good news is that you can get spectacular portraits even without the benefit of freshly fallen snow; just look at what Dan and Daniella ( featured in this article ) were able to pull together!
So how do you plan for a snow day shoot? Here’s a few tips to get you started:
- Color Palette. Creams, whites, and tans look amazing against a snowy backdrop because. The trick is to create a little contrast with the snow, but not so much that it distracts the viewer from your expression and well, you!
- Styling. Where clothes that you feel comfortable in, but take advantage of our styling consult. If we’re doing the photography at your home then open your closet to us! We’ll help you accessorize for the nicest portrait possible.
- Location. Picking somewhere that allows you to get inside quickly if needed is necessary ( even if that just means hopping back in the SUV with the heat cranked ). Take account for any kids involved in the session and know that their timer will be significantly shorter than yours!
